Overview
In collaboration with Mental Health Victoria, Wodonga TAFE is offering enrolment into the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work. This specialist, nationally recognised course is specifically designed for workers who have lived experience as either a consumer or carer and who are currently employed in mental health services in roles that use a peer work framework.
Wodonga TAFE teachers, in partnership with Mental Health Victoria facilitators, deliver the training in this course, with rolling enrolments that allow students to commence studying at any time of the year (subject to eligibility criteria).

Duration
Full-time: 14 months.
Requirements
To be eligible to apply for this qualification, participants must be currently working in a peer work role (paid or unpaid) at least one day per week or have been offered a placement/employment commencing prior to the start of the course with a minimum of one workday per week. Field Placement
This course requires 160 hours of work placement.
Assessment
Materials for this course have been developed in partnership with Mental Health Victoria, drawing heavily on work produced by the Mental Health Coordinating Council on behalf of Community Mental Health Australia, funded and distributed by the National Mental Health Commission.
Learning Outcomes
Skills Developed
Through this course you will draw on your lived experience of mental illness as either a consumer or carer to further understand and support peers in the mental health sector. You will develop skills and knowledge to work with diverse people to promote social, emotional and physical wellbeing through a nationally accepted model of peer work framed by empowerment and trauma informed practice.

By successfully completing this course you will receive a nationally recognised AQF qualification.
