Course Overview
Overview
If you are creative and enjoy practical artmaking and exploration, the Certificate III in Visual Arts is an excellent foundational course. It focuses on creative thinking and arts practice, allowing you to explore drawing and painting techniques, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and wearable arts, and basic photography skills to enhance your development as a practicing artist. You will develop the ability to select, adapt, and transfer skills to different situations. You'll also be involved in the end-of-year FUSE exhibition and invited to attend industry-connected excursions. This qualification prepares you for higher-level learning that supports professional art practice.
Duration
Full-time: 11 months
Requirements
There are no entry requirements, however we recommend that you have completed Year 10 as a minimum, or that you enrol as a mature-aged student.
??Students must provide:
?Visual Arts Diary (A4 or A3) 120 pages
General Art Kit
PPE: Closed in shoes, arts apron (cloth is suitable), hair tie.
Students are required to bring materials for their final artmaking pieces.
Field Placement
There are no field placements associated with this course, students receive extensive and direct industry engagement during the course. All students participate in a major exhibition in November each year. This is an excellent opportunity to start or extend your exhibition practice for your portfolio.
Assessment
The assessments will enable students to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge, skills and attributes required to meet the course outcomes. A range of assessment strategies to meet different student's needs will be selected, including exhibitions, your portfolio, design techniques, theory work and projects.

This course is a great pathway into the CUA41320 Certificate IV in Visual Arts, which will introduce you to new techniques and creative practices, along with tips for working as a visual artist in the industry. You will develop a folio of work for self-promotion or further study as an artist.
