Course Overview
Overview
Teach your profession with this qualification! Completion of this course may enable you to start a career delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. It is also suitable preparation if you are engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context.
Job roles may include:
- Registered Training Organisation (RTO) trainer and assessor
- Enterprise trainer and assessor
- Enterprise assessor
- Vocational education teacher
Duration
48 sessions (12-18 months from commencement date to complete all assessment tasks). Students receive a detailed course delivery plan (timetable) on enrolment.
Requirements
Vocational Competency
You must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in your proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification. We will ensure that you have vocational competency by discussing and collecting certified copies of any relevant certificates you hold, and an up-to- date and verified resume.
Digital Capability
Learning and assessment resources are accessed via Moodle, Wodonga TAFE's online learning platform. You will need a computer/laptop, headset, microphone, camera and reliable internet
connection. It is critical that your technology skills and access to technology do not impede your learning. Both the on campus and online courses require you to have access to reliable digital equipment such as: computer / laptop, camera, headset, internet connection. Students need to be competent in word processing (Microsoft Word), emails, and file management.
Assessment
There is a range of assessment tasks to complete against each unit of competency, or cluster of units, in this qualification. You will receive detailed information about all assessments as you progress through each unit. Assessment methods include:
- research and written tasks;
- practical activities;
- demonstration of your teaching and facilitation skills; and,
- demonstration of your assessor skills.
Students will align their learning and assessment activities to qualifications and units of competency from a Training Package that is relevant to their chosen industry sector.
